GoBike Ride – Sunday 3 March – Northern Heights & Clyde Waterfront

This ride will head through the West End to join the Forth & Clyde Canal at Maryhill. However, we will then leave the canal and visit Bearsden and the Garscadden Woods. We will see a former Roman fort in Clydebank before our lunch stop in Bowling. We will return into Clydebank, passing a lighthouse on the way, then we’ll take a look at the Clydebank waterfront development. After that, we will see the finished cycle route to the Knightswood Park BMX centre, and return back to the West End.

30 miles, including some off-road woodland paths with short but steep climbs..

** CANCELLED ** GoBike Cycle Ride – Sunday 3 February – The White Cart Wanderer

Unfortunately due to icy conditions we have taken the decision to cancel tomorrows ride. Although main roads are clear, untreated side roads and paths are still frozen and icy in places.

We are really disappointed to have to cancel, particularly as we know that these same paths affect the ability to cycle for people trying to choose active travel all year round.

GoBike Cycle Ride – Sunday 3 February – The White Cart Wanderer

We will head to Renfrew to where the Cart meets the River Clyde before loosely following the White Cart upstream to Linn Park. Attractions en route include Paisley Abbey, Pollok Park and the Snuff Mill Bridge.

25 miles, ending back at Victoria Road.

Consultation Digest Issue 25, 10 January 2019: Happy New Year with more progress on the South City Way, good news about Byres Road and feedback from Argyll and Bute and North Lanarkshire

 

 

For our first Consultation Digest of 2019, we have the details for the South City Way to reach across the Clyde, the promise of segregated cycle lanes on Byres Road and a great reach out to some news from Helensburgh and Motherwell. Lots, lots more in this mega-issue as desks were cleared for the end of 2018 and Glasgow, certainly, ups its game. Even Pollok Park gets a mention, so do read on.

GoBike Ride – Sunday 6 January 2019 – The Annual Go Bike Infrastructure Ride

Happy New Year to you all!!

For the 2019 New Year Infrastructure ride we will take a look at some of the recently build cycle infrastructure in the city, including the brand new South City Way. We will start by traversing the West City Way, cross the city centre via means of various pieces of cycle infrastructure, then head south of the river to Queen’s Park. We will then return north to the riverside, so taking in the South City Way in both directions! We will then turn our attention to the South West City Way and complete a figure of eight before finishing in time for lunch.

GoBike Ride – The Bridges of Glasgow – Sunday 2nd December

Sunday 2 December – The Bridges of Glasgow

For our final ride of the year we will take a trip crossing all of the bridges across the River Clyde within Glasgow (except of course for the motorway and railway bridges). Once this has been accomplished, we’ll return back into the city along the Clyde Walkway.

GoBike Ride – Baldernock Loop – Sunday 4th November

Sunday 4th November – Baldernock Loop

This ride will take in the East Dunbartonshire countryside around Balmore and Baldernock, but on the way out of the city we will see a couple of contrasting housing developments, both of which include cycle paths. The return will be via the Bears Way and Kelvin Walkway, arriving back in Glasgow in time for lunch. 20 miles, with a short length of unsurfaced path between Cadder and Balmore and a couple of short lengths on busy main roads. GoBike Ride to Palacerigg Country Park and so much more! – Sunday 2nd September

Sunday 2 September – Palacerigg Country Park and so much more!

The route of this ride will take us out to Palacerigg Country Park via Hogganfield Park and Luggiebank on the edge of Cumbernauld. On the return journey, we will head south through Plains to use the new M8 motorway cycle path between Eurocentral and Baillieston, before heading into Glasgow potentially along London Road. GoBike Ride to Lesmahagow and Lanark – Sunday 5th August

 

Join us once again for our monthly bike ride this month south eastwards, to Lanark.

This ride will take us out of Glasgow through Rutherglen and Cambuslang along a back road to Blantyre and Hamilton, then join NCN 74 to reach our lunch stop at Chatelherault Country Park. After lunch we will continue along NCN 74 through Larkhall and Lesmahagow as far as Happendon. We will then make our way over to Lanark for a train back to Glasgow. 45 miles including a selection of the good, the bad and the ugly of South Lanarkshire cycle infrastructure.
